Creating a universe: the props factory

The props department is in charge of making the scenery and objects that are used in each opera look real. They do anything from small props to assemblies like these:

The prohibition to love by Richard Wagner was released in the Theatre of Magdeburgo in 1836 with the name “The beginner of Palermo” to get around the censorship. This is the adaptation from 2016 that was seen in the Teatro Real.

The props factories at the Real begin their work when a project, a sketch or photographs arrive… from there, and based on artistic parameters and functionality, the universe of the play is created.
